iGTD.sql could not be opened

Please report bugs here - but first please have a look at the ::KNOWN BUGS SUMMARY:: sticky. It lists info about existing bugs and those fixed in latest releases. It will save the developer time which he can use for improving iGTD! :-) Thanks!

iGTD.sql could not be opened

Postby St. Just » Mon Dec 10, 2007 8:01 am

Hi there,

congratulations on a great program. When I downloaded the latest version of iGTD today a nasty bug, however, cropped up. I got the following error message, which does not even disappear when clicking OK:

The file “iGTD.sql” could not be opened because it is not in the right format. The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in a different format than you expect.

Has anybody got any idea how to resolve this issue?

Thank you!

me too. i was gunning to jump in and get my life organized today, and seems this error is what i get. also, gtd2 alpha seems totally not usable at the moment - just the first time i tried to add a task, whenever i clicked done, the title reverts back to 'new task' - i really hope one of these becomes usable in leopard soon!

Workaround

Postby beaubeau » Tue Jan 15, 2008 3:48 am

I am a new user as of 15 jan 2008. Downloaded the 1.4.5.6 fix 3 version, unzipped and dropped it in applications.

I had the same "can not open iGTD.sql" issue the first time. The second time I did not have the message, but I could not do anything this time as well.

I then unzipped the zip again, and copied iGTD over the existing one. This fixed the problem.

Seems to be an issue on very first install. Should be tested on a machine that is completely cleaned of iGTD stuff, methinks.

I've just installed too for the first time and am getting the same message. Lots of them, all down the screen…

Delete the ~/Library/Application Support/iGTD directory and restart the application. The could be because of a clash between iGTD 1 and 2alpha, but I'm not sure.

Deleting the Library/Application Support/iGTD folder did not solve the problem.

Hence, I trashed the folder AND the application and I downloaded the app with Firefox (instead of Safari) and I unzipped it.

It worked then... Maybe Safari did not expand the app correctly...

sql error

Postby Narcogen » Fri Apr 11, 2008 10:29 am

No luck with that fix here, and I've never tried any previous version of iGTD.

Launching the application the first time produces several cascading windows that say "The file “iGTD.sql” could not be opened because it is not in the right format. The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in a different format than you expect."

Subsequent launches allow the main window to open, but nothing works-- you can't add new tasks or anything.

Deleting both the app and the support folder simply repeats this cycle.

I've tried downloading the file by three different methods, all with the same results.

Sorry I'm not a dev nor do I have Leopard and therefore cannot troubleshoot iGTD2 which I have to assume are what most of you are referring to.

If someone can post their debug.log found in User/Library/Application Support/iGTD or crash log from the Console so hopefully one of our bright forum members could take a whack at deciphering it.

If you create a new, virgin User and run iGTD from there, does it work?

Oh, and could someone repair permissions just to get this out of the way. ;)

Great! Would you be so kind as to share how you achieved success for others with the same issue?
I'm quite sure they would appreciate it. 8)

same problem, change of install directory did seem to work

Postby ipsych » Thu Jun 26, 2008 8:49 am

Had the same problem as described above, deleted iGTD directory in Library, downloaded with Firefox, app started but I could not do anything (Icons did not respond), changed install directory of data file in iGTD to Documents\iGTD => seems to work
=> possible conflict with directory rights in Library-folder?

Nope, no luck when finally using it ... app crashed after trying to enter the first project ... damn, I tested an earlier version which did run fine ...
